Newbie Question
Do Killie Fish get along with other fish? I was wondering if I could put some in my 30 Gallon. Or are they called Killie Fish because they kill everything?
30 Gallon
- 1 Red Platys
- 1 Sunset Platys
- 2 Otocinclus
- 1 Amano Shrimp
- 6 Harlequin Rasboras
- 1 Clown Loach
- 1 Kuhlii Loach
10g
- Platy Fry (3)
-Bacopa caroliniana
-Hygrophila difformis
-Bacopa monnieri
NEW - Hygrophila Corymbosa
NEW -Vallisneria Spiralis
NEW- Java Fern

They may chase small fish like rasboras as they are semi-aggressive. Killifish does not mean they are killers ;)

Theyre hardy, and can live in small tanks. Like chrona said, small, slow moving fish may be a target.

I got a Killiefish with Zebra Danios and some red eyed tetras and have never had a problem he just chills at the top or the bottom of the tank
like a submarine.

My male killi (golden wonder) ate anything he could catch. He ate 2 glass cats that were the same size he was.
I wouldn't keep them in a "docile" community tank.

Good to know. I was thinking of getting some American Flagfish but I doubt I will.
26 gallon planted- 1 Black Angelfish, 1 Clown Pleco, Community of Ghost Shrimp
3 gallon- Male orange VT betta "Mojave"

theyre called killie fish because in Dutch it means trench. when the dry season comes along, eggs are in dry soil and im sure thats where the name was derived from. most killie fish can be with large characins, dwarf cichlids and plecos.
