Hi everyone
I am brand new to this sort of thing. I've never posted in a forum or done instant messaging or anything of the like. I've read through many posts however, mostly to get information. It seems like if I have a question someone out there has already had the same question so I search and read until I find an answer. This group seems interesting though.
My confession is that I think I have an aquarium addiction. (Maybe even a pet addiction!) Six years ago I started with a 2 1/2 gal tank with about 5 guppies....today, after a 5 gal., a 10 gal., a 20 gal., and a 20 extra high, I have a 30 gal. extra high and a 20 gal. extra high (both freshwater). Oh yea, and a 1500 gal. garden pond with 6 koi and 5 comets.
My addiction has led me to constantly struggle with overstocking. For example, I currently have 2 angelfish, 4 neon tetras, 4 black neon tetras, 4 green cories, one dwarf flame gourami and one dwarf albino pleco in my 30 gal tank. And, in my 20 (this is going to be much worse) I have 3 emerald green rainbowfish, one bosemani rainbow fish, two blue tetras, two rosy barbs and one(his partner died today)Blolivian ram. None of the fish are very young either. The rainbowfish are all about 4-5 inches long. I have an empty 60 gal. that I was going to use for them, but I have no stand for it. It has been sittting empty for over a year because I haven't been able to find a suitable stand, and I am picky about what it would look like since it is in a bedroom. The nice looking ones are just too much money for us right now.
I have been toying with the idea of having three "biome" (I don't know what you'd really call them) tanks. One would be Amazon rainforest based, one Asian, and one Australian/New Zealand. I thought it would be neat to include only those plants and fish that would possibly cooexist in each area.
Then again I am a huge of fan of Takashi Amano. Though I don't have the financial resources to build tanks like his with co2 etc., in my current tanks I have tried to incorporate many of his design ideas.
This addicition is very hard to overcome. There are just too many choices and beautiful and interesting fish out there!
Is this way too long for a single post?Last edited by Kath; 08-10-2009 at 10:23 PM.

If it's called tourist season why can't I shoot them?
Brutal honesty will be shown on this screen.
I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
Tolerance is a great thing to have, so is the ability to shut up.
