Alright, so we noticed an odd behavior in one of our Siamese algae eaters. It appears that he (or she) thinks they are a salmon! We've had them for almost a month now and have never noticed this behavior. Now it appears he's taught one of our newly acquired Yoyo loaches how to perform this feet.

The first picture is of him thinking about jumping, with the second being after the jump. All we can think is that he's going after the brown algae (it's still a young tank so we're fighting that battle), never mind that their's more accessible stuff down on the rocks!

How exactly would we lay that rag as he's jumping up on our HOB filter? The best I can think would be to drape it over the filter to the light....

lol, I find this quite amusing :)

In any case, SAE are strong jumpers. Unless it can actually clear the whole HOB and get into the filter, then I don't think you any worries. Make sure you have a full tank hood though (or a cover) Perhaps give him some algae pellets to take his mind off?

yea basically drape it over and cover up the open spots.
you didn't have the pix up when i replied to it initially. but that still may work and you hob can still get some air.
shoot, it's worth a shot and may keep you finding him laid out on top of the hob catchin' some rays or something. :0-)

The HOB itself is covered, so I don't think he'll land in that, and the last thing we want is to come home and find him "catching some rays." Time to get busy jerry rigging stuff
