Thread: Crack

  1. Default Crack

    ok. i know, stupid me!

got a 29 today.... leak checked out.... checked it with the old owners gravel still in it. it didn't leak.

got home, cleaned the old stuff out... and there is a crack in the bottom. i am leak checking it now, and its holding fine... no leaks....

what should i do to it? its about 4 " long, right in the corner, and arcs out about an inch from the walls and then back again..

i'm a little upset right now!

Well, first I would go talk to the previous owners and try to get your money back.
If that doesn't work and you don't want to completely replace the bottom piece of glass, you could get a piece of glass cut to exact dimensions of the bottom of the tank and silicone it to the bottom of the tank then put a nice thick bead over the crack on the inside of the tank. My fish guy has done that many times with a few of his tanks and has no issues.

i have talked to the previous owner, and he is being very nice about it. its an hour and a half from here, so its not just a "drop by and get the cash back" type thing.... he is calling around trying to find a 29 to replace it. he said if he couldn't find one we would do something agreeable to both of us..... i'd probly pay him for the rest of the set up (marineland 29 set up with stand) and be reimbursed for the tank...

hopefully he can find a new tank... and drive it up here!
