    Default DIY Plant Background...

    0 Not allowed!
I've seen many people posting about wanting a cool background.

I know there are some plants out there that can attach to things slowly.

So, how about combine the two? Get your hands on some small suction cups with the small hooks and tie the plant to the hook with fishing line. Suction cup it to the back glass, and bam, you have a interesting background. Combine them to fill up the entire back section of the tank and you have a very interesting background.

Seen that done with moss backgrounds. Might work with some other plants. Gotta avoid small fish getting stuck back there, hard for cleaning too. It's a nice idea though.

Yeah you can take suction cups, attach a plastic mesh and put moss on it to make a moss wall. As korith said though they can be tricky if you have small fish.

What I have seen done as well is to take the suction cups and hang small plastic pots from them and put plants into the pots. that's a little easier to clean and maintain.

That sounds like a cool plan!
Are you going to make one?Get some pics while your doing it!

Killer has a plan for a moss wall that is grown on a plastic mesh and just leans on the back wall.Easy to clean up too, just lift and vacuum.

I don't know if I'll make one, but I might.

I wouldn't want an entire wall though. I would some thick mesh wire that can stand up on its own. I would cut it in a wild pattern and suction cup it to the wall. I'm not sure how a solid wall would look, so I'm going to do wild streaks of them.

The mesh side of a cheap plastic laundry basket would work really well for it.
Not sure if it would float or sink though.
MCHRKiller made one here. Not sure what she used.http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/aqua...ight=moss+wall

I just get so worried with anything plastic.
Could it not release chemicals into the water?

I don't think it would, but I'm not completely sure.

Once the plastic is cured, I'm pretty sure its stable. Plastic doesn't rot underwater, so I don't think it would release anything.

Get some closed spaced light difuser (also known as egg crate) from Home Depot or your friendly local hardware store and cut it to the desired length and paint it the desired colour with Krylon Fusion spray paint. Let it dry for 24 hrs and attach plants.
