Fish Dying....Help!
Set-up is a 40 gal, breeder tank
Currently have:
5 neon tetras, 2 corys, 3 "glo-fish", 4 Platys (3 adult and 1 fry)
pH is 7.0, ammonia is 0, and Nitrate is <5ppm; temp 76
In the past 5-6 weeks I have lost 6 fish. It all started when we had an ich outbreak in our tank, which occurred after a spotted catfish was added to the tank (despite the fact it spent time in the QT tank first). Lost a platy and the culprit cat fish during treatment. Then 2 weeks ago I lost all 3 of my guppies within 5 day period, though they didn't show any signs of being ill (appeared fine one day, but then woke up to dead fish). 4 days ago I found a glo-fish lying on its side on the bottom of the tank, body arched (curved like a 'C', with head and tail down), died shortly after.
Now tonight, I noticed the platy fry is swimming with its body leaning slightly. Then she did some weird acrobatic, spiral, then went back to the leaning. Seems to be having problems controlling the direction she's going in also.
Any ideas on whats haunting my tank. And do I have any chance on saving the fry?

Perhaps the catfish introduced more than just ich into the tank. Since there aren't any external signs of infection maybe there is a parasite going around, I'm no expert though just trying to be logical.
10g- 5 diamond tetra, 1 oto, 1 albino BN pleco, 1 assassin snail and 2 blue shrimp. Heavily planted tank.

I tried just salt and raising the temp but that didnt help at all, so ended up using rid-ich.
I'm thinking parasite too, any suggestions on a good med for that? Don't trust the opinion of the LFS employees :)

Was this fry around for the treatment phase? Sometimes fry are especially sensitive to medications and it can mess with their internal organs like the swim bladder. Also did any of the fish have curious discoloration like lighter/grayish patches? If so you might be looking at NTD which isn't a fun disease....

Mardel has a pretty reputable product like for sick fish with a variety of medications. I used their regular maracyn for an external infection. For you I think I would recommend, Maracyn 2, for gram negative bacteria as they tend to cause internal infections. I can't seem to find anything for internal parasites only external ones. Good luck.

i see your ammonia level and your nitrates level. did you test for nitrites? how long has the tank been running? and what is your water change schedule and how much water do you change each time?
If it's called tourist season why can't I shoot them?
Brutal honesty will be shown on this screen.
I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
Tolerance is a great thing to have, so is the ability to shut up.

Well the first thing i`d do...more often water changes(small quantities), like maybe a 5% everyday or so,and if they have worms or something like that i`ve heard something like garlic does wonders with the worms (boiled garlic...then the cooled water added to the tank or something...i dunno about how much and so on, better document yourself on it) or maybe even some blanched veggies left for a hour or two in the juice of some garlic.
Hope you have it fixed.
Cheers!Thou shallt watch the aquarium from time to time!
