weird question
Everybody is gonna think this is a weird question, but here goes.
I have ALL 7 of my tanks in the basement, and half have lights. When i shut off the tank lights for the night, all that is left for light is the actual basement lights, which is 4 lightbulbs. Im getting ticked because its a waste of electricity to have the lights running so much, and i have to change them constantly. Can fish manage to swim around in PITCH, and i mean 0% light without bumping into anything for 12 hours? Would my firebelly toads care too?

I turn everything off at night or I can't sleep.

i have my tank in the basement as well, but i have 2 leds, a red and a blue that shine down from the top. unless the fish go under the light, i cant see them, so its dark for them. my guppies in my bedroom are in complete black when i go to bed at night, and they do fine.
Those leds that i have are pretty cool, and they use almost no electricity, and since they're leds, they last for thousands of millions of billions of hours.

Fish sleep just like we do. They are done for the day. I can sleep with some minimal lights on, and so can they. They don't however need any light at night. They are asleep and won't know the difference!
8 tanks running now:
1x 220 gallon, 2x55 gallon, 1x40 gallon long, 1x29 gallon, 1x20 gallon long, 1x5.5 gallon, 1x2 gallon
Gouramis, barbs, rasboras, plecos, corys, tetras, fancy guppies, swordtails, ottos, rainbow shark, upside-down catfish, snails, and Max and Sparkles the bettas.
