IME it makes absolutely no difference. I've had them with anemones, and without them. I've had them with corals and with out them and they always find a spot to "host." Clowns are one of the most adaptable marine fish available.

i am thinking about the following list of fish
yellow tang
flame angel
5 blue damsals
2 clowns
watchman goby
solar fairy wrasse
royal grammar
the concern i have is the aggressive behaviour of the damsals, people seem to have mixed opinions of them.
i am also still considering going for a 2nd tang , aggression with the yellow tang is my concern, if i get a purple tang it will mean i have to change my list to make room.
