Murky tank
Hi
I have just bought my first tank and decided to go coldwater. Followed the instructions for setup, using a filter with filter start. The water was clear but after two days the water has become slightly cloady. Will this clear up or do I need to add anything.
I was planning to introduce plants after 4 days and some fish after a week.
The tank is 64 Litres and I live in a hard water area.
Any help to a newbie would be appreciated.

must be the bacteria colonizing your filter
don't worry that will clear up over time
and don't forget to cycle :)

it should clear up with a little time.
before you add fish you should read the cycling stickys in the beginners corner and the free e book in the left hand menu. then you can decide whether you want to do fishless or a fish in cycle.
what kind of fish were you planning on putting into your tank?If it's called tourist season why can't I shoot them?
Brutal honesty will be shown on this screen.
I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
Tolerance is a great thing to have, so is the ability to shut up.

Read the ebook on the left hand side. Has LOADS of great information which will explain everything. You havn't added fish yet so you could do a fishless cycle which would make your life A LOT easier. Just go to a local hardware store and get some pure ammonia, no soaps or scents.
Do you have a test kit(ammonia, nitrite, nitrate,ph)?
Any other questions feel free to ask!

Murky Tank continued...
Thanks for the advice.
But..
The e-book is for tropical fish. And do I need to cycle if I have a cold water tank?
As I said I am a complete begineer. I have ordered some books of the internet to assist me with fish choice.

yes, you will need to cycle the tank regardless if it's tropical or coldwater.

Well I'm glad your doing your research before you buy fish, not after lol. Read up on the cycle, and do a fishless, much easier and you will build a big biological filter which means after you cycle, you can add a little more fish at once then how you would in a fish cycle.
