Exclamation OMG!!! My fish just had babies!!! Please help asap!!

Okay so I wasn't really paying attention to my tank today (the 10 gallon in my sig). I fed the fish in the AM and was gone all day. Just now I'm looking in my tank, and I think the tetra's had babies! I count 5 fry!

I am excited but freaking out! It is 1AM here - so nothing is open - I have no fry holder thing and have NO clue what to do. They've got to be baby tetra's I only have 1 molly and the cory babies would look different I assume.

Will they eat the babies!? I want them to live! They don't seem to be bothering them but I am FREAKING out, lol.

Any ideas? Sorry for the frantic post but wow! Was NOT expecting that.

I love this when it happens. It is so nice and rewarding.

IMO the best thing to do would be to get a small glass jar and add it to the tank, and fill it with tank water. Then catch the fry and add it to the jar. They will be safe then.

High chance they will eat them.

    Good luck,

I have like a juice glass and a shot glass... if I put them in this in the tank will that work? I'm hoping it wont tip over... should all the babies go in one cup or should they each get their own?

The best type of jar would be one of those Jam jars. One you can put a lid on. Just a lid of mess would be best. Anyway as long as the jar can't be nocked down it will work.

As for the fry all in one jar.

I honestly have NO idea. lol. I guess it must be, everyone things they are baby mollys on the other forum I post at too.

I bought a baby nursery thing today that sits in the tank for them today.

Any idea how long I should leave the 4 babies in there?

Also - now that I will have FIVE mollys, 5 tetras, and 4 corys in my tank.... how big of a tank do I need to upgrade to?

Get a picture of the fry so we can I.D the fish so you can know for sure. If they are guppies, I'd upgrade because those things will turn into baby making machines. Get a nice 20-30 gallon tank. You can get a nice package. Or if you have the money, go for a 55 they have the packages for like 200. You get the tank, filter, heater, hood and you wont need to cycle again.
