Sick Fish - need advice to save it
Hi,
This angel fish has been in my tank for a year, but the past 10 days he hasn't eaten much, is hiding in corners and now seems bloated. His breathing is also laboured and he swims upright. Please if someone knows how to treat him I would be very grateful. (see attached picture, thanks)
Hi, Brief tank info: 100 L with 2 sucker, 3 mollies, 2 gourami, 2 angel, 2 dawrf gourami, 6 tetras and 2 platties.
Tested the water, PH, Nitrate, Amonia all are fine, as are other fish in the tank. External filter (not remember name;at work!)
Sick fish will only eat food which drops (if eats). All fish eat flakes. Stopped blood worms a couple of weeks ago. Bloated up 3 days ago at front only.Last edited by Helen; 03-13-2007 at 08:00 AM.

Water changes being needed is my first guess. What are the levels for: ammonia, pH, nitrites, nitrates, temp, etc. What are you feeding? What is your water change schedule? What filtration do you have?

Could be constipated. Does he get greens in his diet? I would hold back meat products and try to see if he will eat some greens just incase. If not that, I wonder if it could be egg bound.

Sorry you lost your fish but do check water so you'll know what happened and others not in danger. He could have had internal parasites, as well.

Since your water tested is fine, I'm inclined to go with constipation or egg bound like hobbs mentioned. Sorry you lost him!
