I keep mine around 75, and use coral to buffer the water chemistry in all my tanks. Makes swapping fish around much easier. The pH stays around 8.0, hardness is quite high as well. I have a young trio that have produced several hundred fry, and they're all healthy and growing quickly (in several tanks.)

Feed them a good diet and have patience. You might want to put in a slate cave or something similar for a spawning site.
