Bacteria to cycle???
Is it ok to add bacteria during the cycle process??? I was at my LFS and the guys told me that by adding bacteria the cycle will be a little shorter and better .... I already have my shrimp in it for a day now!

Your LFS is just trying to make a quick sale
Just leave it be and it will cycle. You just need ammonia to kick start it. This will be produced by live rock or adding a piece of dead shrimp or shellfish to the tank

Yes, it is ok to add bacteria as long as you have an ammonia producer in your tank.
It is certainly not necessary but can help speed things along.

dead shrimp additive
I keep reading about adding a dead shrimp to a tank so no fish has to die for the cause. But I never see anyone suggest what size dead shrimp for what size salt aquarium.

circusman, this thread is almost two years old now
Please start a new thread to ask your questions and I'm sure you will get some help with your questionsIf you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.
