Salt for Betta (and other) fins?
My wife picked up a nice solid red betta when she was out yesterday. Her last betta, which died after a nice 5 year run, had notoriously split fins. She asked someone at the store how to avoid this and he told her to put salt in. He gave her the impression that salt should be used for any fish with large 'elaborate' fins, like guppies. Is this true?
I'm always a little cautious when it comes to salt in my tanks. Any thoughts would be good.

I am not really sure on that one. Why not just use mealfix?? And that API Betta Water Conditioner has tea tree oil in it which will help with the fins.

I like salt for healing wounds and helping out with some illnesses.
Clean water is all that is needed to heal split or torn fins.
