Water conditioner OD?
Hey Guys,
I have a quick question. Would it harm my fish if too much water conditioner is added? This question has been lingering in my mind for a while now. I have a 2g hex tank that has an UGF and a power filter. I noticed that excessive bubble would cover the surface of the water if I add slightly more water conditioner in the water. Is it necessary that I do a partial water change with normal dose of water conditioner?

A little extra will not hurt anything.

What water conditioner are you using, just out of curiosity?
Apparently some leave a film on the water that allows bubbles to accumulate. No ill effects though.

I am using tetra aquasafe for my smaller tanks! It's one of those trial package that last forever. I also have API tap water conditioner for my community tank. What do you recommend?

prime for me. OD a bit doesn't hurt anything--When i do a WC i use 5ml of prime(about 50 gal worth) on every tank, regardless of how much i change(generally only 10-30 gal)

I have heard you can overdose but you would have to put such a large amount in most people will never add too much. I have never given it much thought, what would happen say if I poured in a 500ml bottle of prime in a 100gal tank? I have no idea....

Man if you cut it to even a half lid full your bottle would last you twice as long, just a thought. Since you do 10-30gal half cap would be 27.5gal.

I use API stress coat. By adding a little more, you can get a better stress protection plan for your fish.
the statement below is false

Some can be overdosed some cant, just depends on the brand. The only one I could think of that I know cant be overdosed is Amquel . Says so on the bottle but I'm sure there are others that cant be OD'd. Small ODs shouldn't hurt anything, pour a whole bottle of conditioner in and you got problems.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers.
