Java Moss on terracotta?

Will java moss naturally stick to terracotta? Any thoughts on the best way to start it?

Yes, it will definitely stick to clay pots. Put it next to or on the pot and it WILL happen.

It will stick to anything even slightly porous, I got mine to stick to a plastic cave:)

I have a few terracotta pots in a tank with some java moss. The surface was just too smooth for it to attach. It did attach at some points but not much. I think roughly up the surface of the pot would have helped. Best way to do that would probably be to leave the pot underwater overnight, and then take a dremel to the surface of it and roughen it up.

It doesn't have to be porous. Mine has grabbed right on to the glass, but some texture does help.

I've read to wrap fishing line around smooth surfaces like that to give the moss something to grab hold of. You could also use some aquarium silicone and stick some stones to the pots to give it a rough surface for roots to grab.

The pot I have in mind isn't glazed so it's pretty pourous on the outside. I might rought it up with some sandpaper or something. Silicon is a good idea too.
