Sometimes, but many times the koi outcompete them for food or will even eat their fins and love to eat wens (the cap on orandas, lionheads, and ranchus). I wouldn't mix them.

If the pond is large enough there shouldn't be a problem.. I have koi ranging from a few inches to two and a half feet in my pond and there is one fill grown comet in there who has a fancy tail and they all seem to get along

I have 4 fancytails in with 5 comets and 8 koi.I had troubles the first night they were introduced but it came from the comets. They chased the fancys relentlessly and even bumped them out of the water a few times.I was so concerned that I tried to remove them but my pond was too large to catch them.I left them in for the night expecting dead goldys in the morning but the next day there they were swimming together and there hasnt been a problem since. As for the koi,I have never seen my koi nip a fin or a tail, that isnt a koi behaviour that I have ever witnessed or heard of and Ive kept them for 5 yrs now.How big is the pond?

There shouldn't be a problem. Just keep an eye on them for problems caused by individuals.
