Leupis and Lionheads

A friend wants to give me some leupi and buffalo/lionheads. Both species are paired. From what I have read each pair will require a minimum 30gal. At that size tank how are they in a community setting during spawning? I've read they will be fine as long as sufficient cover etc. is provided, but hard to believe!
Are their reaction to other fish typical of cichlids after having spawned? I'm guessing in a 30gal. they would have to be the sole occupants?

yeah, they vary like most cichlids. Sometimes there ok, sometimes there not. But very nice cichlid!
