How's my betta tank look? Did I put too many plants in?

My betta seems happy and the tank looks OKAY, but I feel like it's missing something? Or maybe there's too much or the colors clash?
Not sure and would love some feedback.
Also - the last picture is of my dog checking out the betta - she's fascinated by him, haha. =)

There is not to many plants. The colors are not my taste but it is not my tank. Looks like your puppy likes it.
I think you did a nice job.

Live plant would look better IMO. Anubius can grow under very low light.

Looks fine, but you're right. Something is missing, but I can't put my finger on it...looks great anyways!

The colors really aren't my taste either. I hate dark purple. lol.
My 10 gallon has black gravel so I wanted to switch it up and do light in this one but I just don't know. I feel like the tank looks ugly or something.55 GALLON

I like the dogs veiw! lol
Its a nice tank!I like it!
Leave it (if you can!
lol) alone for a couple of days. You will be changing it around soon enough! lol Most of us do for the first while.
I don't think I have ever liked a tank I have done at first. There is always something to move or change!Ray

As NG said leave it alone for a few days.
But, something you could try that i think MCHR suggested was to make a java moss wall. Tie some java moss to some plastic netting or similar along the back.
I feel like there is a lot of red in there for me, i'd go more green30g - Planted - need to do some serious rethinking

I will definitely leave it alone for a few days before I go switching anything.
That BIG plant in the betta tank is actually dark purple. I'm not really crazy about it but the betta actually seems to like it - lol.
This is my 10 gallon:

Is there anything you'd take from the 10 and put in the 5 and vice versa?
I originally had the little purple plant thats in the 5 where the red plant is in 10.. I don't know I'm at a loss... it just doesn't look RIGHT to me.
Real plants aren't really an option for me at this time. I've never done them before and really don't want to spend any more money - - - just kinda have to work with what I have but need help deciding what goes where. :/ *sigh*55 GALLON

I would lose the fake coral thingy, move the green plant further back, and slap a black background on the back 3 sides
