Thread: Heater died

  1. Default Heater died

I woke up this morning to find my heater had died in my 30g tall and the temp had dropped to 68. I have 2 mollies, 1 angel, 8 serpaes, and 1 pleco. I'm just concerned what a temp drop from 82 like this would do to them as I've never had a drop so drastic over night.

  2. Default

It can cause a lot of stress and can put them into shock if it was a sudden drop, but if it happened gradually during the night (giving them a bit of time to adjust) and is only a one time thing, they should be OK. If it was to happen on a continual basis then it can lead to stress related illnesses/diseases. I always have a spare heater because things like this always seem to happen when shops are closed. When you raise the temperature again just do that gradually as well, so as not to stress them with more fluctations.
