20 long Planted Tank
I want to set up a 20 long for my pair of rams. This tank will be used as there spawning tank. Can someone give me a rough idea of how the aquarium should be set up and how the layout of the aquarium should be? Should a sponge filter be used vs a hang-on-the-back power filter?
Thanks,

I have tangle of driftwood, java fern and a couple of caves from flower pots. I run a small cannister but a sponge would be fine. They dont need current and the babies will find food on the filter.

Do you have the tank heavily planted in Java fern or lightly planted?

if thats the only fish in the tank it really doesnt matter unless you need to get the parents out then too many plants will make that difficult

yeah, maybe throw some slate in there too! Run a big sponge filter, with a medium planted tank, and maybe a 1/3f ratio and when you have a pair just separate them into there own tank..

Looking forward to seeing the pictures. I think a 20 long is a perfect tank size for smaller fish and they are great to plant since they are so shallow.
