Hello Nacho. The balas truly need to be taken back to the pet shop. They get over 12" in some cases and over 9" in all cases.Even if they are small now they are in a tank that is too small for them due to there spooky nature.

thank you i think i may i did not know that is how big they get. i thought they grow to as big as there surroundings allowed thanx

Agreed. The balas should go back. Fish deserve to grow to the size they are meant to be. By not allowing that you would be performing a disservice to the animal.
    8 tanks running now:
    1x 220 gallon, 2x55 gallon, 1x40 gallon long, 1x29 gallon, 1x20 gallon long, 1x5.5 gallon, 1x2 gallon
Gouramis, barbs, rasboras, plecos, corys, tetras, fancy guppies, swordtails, ottos, rainbow shark, upside-down catfish, snails, and Max and Sparkles the bettas.

Thats an old wives tale.Fish get as big as there care allows them to, not there tank size.Feed a fish right, keep the water clean and do not stress them out abnormally and they can get 12" long in a 12" long tank.

Disgusting to even think about but sadly true.
