Alright today was the first day of treatment, I took out the carbon and changed 30% of the water and dosed half doses of Pimafix and Melafix. After the dosings I realized I put way to much Melafix in the tank. Do yall think fish will be ok including the scaleless fish? Should I not put Melafix in for a few days or something?

When you say you put "way too much" of the melafix, do you mean more than half the dosage or the full dosage? (I hope that makes sense.)

Ive heard that you can use the full dosage of Pimafix and the full dosage of melafix together. As long as you didnt put "way too much" more than the recommended full dosage I wouldnt worry about it.

If you are still nervous about it go ahead and do a small water change.

I just came home from the lfs and i went to check on the tank and when i went up a lot of the fish were on their sides, still alive but breathing really fast , the clown loach was doing very bad he breathes a little bit, then stops, and that pattern is still going. Me and my friend hastly did a 50% water change and I put the carbon back in the filter, most of the fish seem to be getting better but I dont know if the clown loach is gonna make it . I must have accidently spilled some of the Melafix in the tank not knowing what I did because it looks like I put more than the full dosage. I did my best what do yall think I should do now?

Look guys please dont nag on me and tell me how bad this is because it was an accident and the real thing I need right now is some help. For some reason i misread the directions for the dosage (5ml=10g), and somehow my math went wrong and I dosed 2.5 times the amount of the full dose of both Melafix and Pimafix. I changed 50% of the water and put both bags of carbon back in the filter. My clown loach is doing a lot better now but all the fish still dont swim around they just kind of sit there. All their colors are normal, some are breathing abnormal and I had to transfer the striped loach to the 5g because he wasnt doing good at all. Luckily hes doing better in the 5g for now.

Here are my questions-

Will this stuff cause any bad damage to my fish?

How long will it take for the meds to get out of the system?

How large of a water change should I do tommorrow?

The scent fills the entire room so is it ok to breath it in?

Will the filter media have to be replaced after all this is over?

Please guys I know this is a terrible accident and I really need your input

No one is going to nag you and kick you while your down. Sh!t happens and that was an honest mistake. I am sure you wont make the same mistake twice.

The fact that your fish arent dead right now is a good thing but your not out of he woods yet, obviously. I really dont know what to tell you other than keep up with the daily water changes. Maybe try contacting API and see what they say about accidental OD. Good luck.

Thanks ko4000 for all your help im going to keep up with the daily wc. All my fish seem to be doing a lot better so I think everything should be ok.

If you are showing ammonia levels in your water, apparently your tank was not cycled prior to adding your fish? You could be having a double problem with both toxic levels and now this fungus. Nothing you can do really but keep up with the half doses of medications and water changes, as well.
Check those fish for ICK, as well. Fish generally don't scratch themselves with fungus so you may be having ICK, as well.
