Here's a pic of one of the about 25 crystal red bee shrimp I got in a week ago. All but 2 are red, with the other 2 being black. This one is less than 1/2 and inch and is one of the bigger ones.

I love the way those shrimp look. Are they harder to raise? I have Red Cherry shrimp now. I heard that Crystal red or black bee shrimp are fussy about water quality. Where did you get them? I only know of one place in my area that has them and they are $6 each. I like the blk. striped ones. Let me know if they are hard to take care of. I really want to get them except I'm scared that they might die on me. I have had no problem with my red cherry shrimp. I have had alot of tiny babies from them.

Eileen, from what I've read and from talking to the guy I got them from, if you can keep red cherry shrimp you can keep crystal red shrimp. Like all fish they like clean water. I normally do a 20 percent water change on all my tanks once a week so that won't be an issue. I got mine from brianstropicals.com. Even with shipping it was about $3.50 a shrimp. Which is a lot cheaper then the $10 price tag here at the only lfs that has them. Check out this site as there is info on how he raises them there. And you can keep cherry and crystal together without cross breeding.

Thanks for the information. I do a 25% water change once a week anyways and put Cycle in the tanks once a week to maintain good water quality.

I don't want to mix the two different kinds. They will have their own tank to grow up in. Why won't they inter-breed just wondering?
