Week Long trip- Away from Home
I found out this weekend that my Granddad has prostate cancer. My whole family has decided to go down to Florida (where he lives) a 12 hr. drive from VA
(where I live) We are driving! I will be gone from April 8th (early AM -like 5) to April 15 or 16 (late in the day)
Water Changes?
Food?
I saw on Petsmart they have Tetramin Vacation Feeders.

This will be OK for my Neon and Betta tank- the betta will eat flakes! but not the divided one with the two Crowntail Bettas, as they are picky and won't touch flakes.
I have no money to which I could invest in an automatic feeder. It would be the ideal situation, but I would need two, one for each tank.
I have no neighbors to come help care for the fish. What should I do?

honestly they should be ok for a week without food, do some big water changes before you go
As I get older I find myself thinking about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

You don't think even a small vacation feeder? (I worry about my fishies!)
I would think I could put one in the CT tank and if they got hungry enought they would eat it?

Those vacation feeders cause water quality problems which you don't want, while you're away. You can leave them for a week...I've done it with no problems. Feed well, for a couple of days before you leave. Do water changes, and maintain filters. It'll be fine...

No. Algenco is right. They should be fine for a week without a vacation feeder. Just do the water change a day before you leave.
When in doubt, do a water change.
"This ain't rocket science!"

I hereby add my testimony to those above. Your fish will be fine for a week without food, but a good water change before would be a good idea
