So I was at the fish store today..just looking
at some fish and taking notes on what I think I want to add when the tank is ready. I noticed these real pretty fish called Pearl Gourami...I noticed that a couple of them kept surfacing to the top and it looked like they were trying to breath the air looked like they were feeding but there was no food. Why were they doing that?

Hmm...there must be something wrong with the water. The water might contain too much ammonia. Or they were just trying to get your attention...

Yes they breathe from the surface. I had four blues that constantly stayed at the top of the water.
