I'd pay someone hard cash if they offered to sell me something like that.
Wish I had the time, patience (not to mention space! =P) for this kind of project. Well done. =D
A severe lack of trichogaster.
Just because your Gourami is sick does not mean it is always Iridovirus, DGIV, Gourami Disease, et cetera.
Look at all the other factors in your tank before coming to this conclusion.

How much hard cash we talking here?
That would be a cool job... building fish condos. I might have to talk to my fishguy to see if he could sell some in the shop.
Funny thing is that I don't have a lot of patience either... but it was pretty fun to do. Space is a must though... messy project. Definitely something you don't want to do in your kitchen or living room.

55g Long --> After 18mo of doing well the tank crashed during moving. Most likely cause: Flatworm Die-off... won't start another until after moving... Likely not until late 2013
Check out the journal to follow my 55g SW tank

vacuum attachment
never seen a python vacuum, but I have a petco version that uses a faucet waterbed draining style pump that switches to refill also, and I imagine it's fairly similar, and it seems like instead of trying to figure out an attachment to put a 1" hose on the end of the vacuum tube, can you not just pop the hose off the vacuum tube and use the plain hose without it? mine's maybe 3/4" and would work great in the caves that way...
