Crime getting worse
My towns been having people driving around shooting windows out of businesses and cars for the past several months with pellet guns and they've yet to be caught. Its been getting worse the past few weeks. Police suspect its the same people every time. Last week they shot 3 out across the street and last night they shot a coworkers windshield out of a van he's selling right in front of my work/apartment. We have cameras up and actually saw the windows being shot out across the street, but the cameras are too blurry to see anything but a general description of the car. Police have been telling people to park with there windshields facing the street as its cheaper, easier to replace a windshield then a back window or side window.
Any ideas on how to catch these punks? I'm worried there gonna get the windows of our apartment our the shop

Stake outs. Alternate having a couple people watching from vehicles thru the night with cameras and try to get the license plate number.

Get better cameras?
If you need to buy time for the camera to focus in on them, you could try getting a thin sheet of chip board and putting a poster of the inside of the car taken through the windshield with a thin sheet of plastic pulled tightly over it.
Since they'll be driving past it, and it'll be dark, they probably wont notice it. But they may be dumb enough to stop and take several shots at it to try and break it.
Another option would be to have speed traps put down on the street. Knowing that their car would be damaged if they had to make a quick escape might be enough to keep them out of that area.
Basically all you need to do is get a picture of their license plate, or their faces. There's endless options if you have the money you're willing to invest in it, but I think your best bet might be to just do a stakeout with a camera and a notepad to try and get that plate number."If you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate"

my dad caught a neighbor who was dealin heroin by simply putting a camera up on a tri-pod in his vehicle. Nobody suspected anything, after a couple days of crap shootage which gave us nothing we got all the cops needed to use against him.
