    I see im late on my reply to this... but I also use eco-complete and some of them have worn barbels and some do not.

    I'm was thinking of pulling out the cories but trying to catch then is tricky and difficult in a big tank with lots of hiding places.

    was thinking about replacing the eco-complete with sand; I tried placing a layer on top but that just filtered down to the bottom. I could try removing the upper layer of larger pieces I guess.

    Can corys re-grow their barbels?

    I use Flourite and the barbells on my corys are just fine. In fact, when I got them from the lfs, they were very short and have since grown much longer.
