Thread: siphon help

    how can i start my siphon to vaccum my tank. i do it by sucking all the air out until water is emptied into my mouth(tank water) its disgusting but i have no other way can you help?

    You just have to get your mouth out of the a little quicker. Thats how I get mine going, move your mouth too soon and it won't start, too late and well you already figured that part out.

    we have one and you squeeze the blue bit and that creates the vacume for the siphone

    I highly recomd it

    I did that once ... I got sick as a dog for like 5 days ... figure I picked up some kind of parasite ... there are a lot of people on here that do it though ...

    I have found that an easy way to do it is to put the siphon in the water and turn it up until all the air bubbles out ... then, you only need 3-5 pumps to get the flow going ...

    what do you mean pumps? by the way i got sick to. sadly i havnt vaccumed in like 7months or water changed yet my fish live and love the tank.

    yeah, put the siphon into the water and then lift up the vaccuum end while covering the small opening. Let all the air out of the entire siphon tube (helps if you're tall) and put the vaccuum end back in the tank to top it up. Then just take your finger off the small end of the tube and you're in business.

    thanks ill try that and with this post i can now play in the arcade
    also please address why my fish love the filthy tank over the clean tank they used to have

    This is how I do it, even in my nanos. Gravity can be your friend. :)

    I wouldn't say they love it, but they aren't dead yet either so that is a plus.
