  1. Question new tank, what fish?

hey all i have a dwarf gourami and 3 corys and they are going to be moved to my 40 gallon i will be getting soon, my question is about other fish to get. My main problem i have is how many dwarf gouramis do i get? the one i have is male and was wondering if 2 males would be ok? i would obviously get a few females too but dont want too many gouramis in the tank. other things i had thought about were fancy guppies, white clouds, a couple more corys or a few pitbull catfish then maube some shrimp or something. can anyone suggest anymore fish i could try?

I think you could get away with 2 or 3 dwarf gourami. I have 2 dwarf gourami's in my 55g community tank. I think the more densely planted it is, the more you could get away with. Too many different community fish to choose from.

I would recommend a trio of wrestling halfbeaks for the upper levels of the tank.

Gouramis are pretty much a top dwelling fish and can get territorial over the surface area since they use the air to breathe. I would recommend, if possible, two to three females, or one more male. I would add some corys to the group, 3 more of the same species, of not a few more. Corys love groups. I personally think that some asian schoolers: rasboras or danios would look good as well. You could probably get away with a school around 10, maybe a few more.
30gL heavily planted: south american community tank
15g mod. planted: nano fish community tank
    6g long(custom tank) mod planted: 6 bettas w/ dividers
