Thread: Slate

  1. Default Slate

Hey guys I am looking to buy some slate to glue to the driftwood. I was wondering if all slate is safe? if not what kind to look for? does it do anything with water like make it harder? Also how can I glue the slate to the dritwood? will silicone work? I have GE I 100% silicon. Thanks in advance!

that silicone will work fine. I think the slaterock found in most aquariums and LFS' is "flag stone". Do the vinegar test if you're not sure. If it bubbles, then it will affect your water conditions.

Look in their garden center. I am almost sure they have it for walkways and the like.

It probably is best to get it from the LFS since any pieces they do sell at the hardware store will likely be much larger than you need.

Whoa....there's gotta be a cheaper place other than a fish store for slate. I'd try the good ole phone book for a co. that installs fancy sidewalks and lawn arrangements.
