Ugly brown stuff
I have a bunch of ugly brown stuff on my sand and my fake plants.. what is it? Is it a sort of algae? How do I get rid of it? My tank just recently cycled too.

It's called diatoms, happens sometimes in new tanks and even older ones. Do water changes a bit more frequently, that will help. Eventually they will go away.

diatoms...mmmm diatoms. Feed lees, change water more, and more light. They settle down in time and get out competed by green algae.
