    Default New intake tubes?

When I set up my 20g long, I used two filters that I had for my 5g and 10g when I had those set up. Because they were on smaller tanks, the intake tubes were shortened some so they wouldn't be too long. Can I just buy new ones to put on these filters? Are they like a "standard" size, or will I need to measure them before going to the lfs? Does that make sense? lol

Most all of them are different sizes. If the originals are too long, cut them off some with a hack saw.

Measure the outside diameter and inside diameter, and take a piece with you if you can to be sure.

take a piece to Lowes, Home depot, etc and tell them how many feet you need
As I get older I find myself thinking about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

I think I mis-read this. You mean the hard plastic tube that is in the tank, right? Or not? Still, measure the outside diameter...I think the sizes are prtty standard. Of course, if you saved the bits you cut off last time, you could bring those to compare. It's something I would save being anal-retentive

Exactly! There in lies the challenge to remember what safe place you put it.

Definitely measure the width of the tubes and find the same size at a home depot like store, then you can make the intakes at whatever sizes you like. The intake tube on my cannister filter is just a piece of pvc piping with a cap on it, and a ton of holes drilled in it.
