Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!! (WARNING, disturbing images)
Man I hate when this happens, I had the chance to purchase an
8" Male Frontosa to add to my colony, but when he arrived from
a breeder in England, the bag he was in was completely empty of water
and the poor thing had met his demise ...

I felt sick to my stomach, to grow a Frontosa to 8" takes years and then it
just gets wiped out like that. The box he was in was big enough but not
deep enough, the bag had fallen on it's side and all the water drained out.
I posted this up so folk can see that you never have your dream fish untill
it is swimming in your tank, and if you are considering shipping fish, make sure
you have the right size container for the fish you are shipping.Mike!

I'm so sorry.
I know many animals get shipped successfully, but it's always so tragic when it doesn't work out...55 g Goldfish Tank - 5 Fancies, 2 Dojos

That is truly horrible! Have you contacted the breeder to let him know that he effectively killed your fish owing to poor packaging? The breeder has got to have an idea that not all boxes are shipped right side up and that things happen to the boxes, especially when handled by machines. I'm really sorry.

Why ship something that's perfectly capable of swimming?
With a bit of training and a well made harness I'm sure they could make it over...
Tank mates allowing, maybe get a smaller fish and grow it yourself. Just personal opinion, but I think it'll be an even more fulfilling dream fish if you grew and raised it more yourself, so that it reflects the work you've done over the years."If you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate"

Terrible and you can tell he was a very nice fish, too.

It wasn't the replacement of the fish that I was thinking of (I dont' think that you can simply replace a living thing for another)...rather, letting the breeder know that the packaging caused the death of the fish. Outside of the horrible images of your photos, I was more thinking of the slow suffocation of the fish en route to a loving home which is ironically very sad.

That was probably the best thing to do. I'm sure that it was not intent to kill the fish en route, but just so that he's aware for future shipments. After all, he'll only damage his reputation. I'll shut-up on this now
