Thread: fish id

  1. Default fish id

my LFS has these amazing tetras, they look like rummy nosed tetras, except they have an orange nose and blue tails. they are much more pale then rummy nose tetras and they don't have any black on them at all.
they are beautiful and i was considering trading in my danios for them, but i have no clue what they are and if they would be compatible with my tank.
    sorry no picture...
    any ideas?

thanks for the suggestion but definitely not Aphyocharax rathbuni.
these have a orange nose, and light blue tail. shape is the same as a rummy nose.
they look exactly like them, just orange face, pale blue tail and no black stripes.

i don't remember, however, they are notoriously mislabeling their fish, they have rhinohorn gobies labeled as "clown goby" and their amano shrimp are just labeled as "algae shrimp". they had no idea what i was talking about when i asked for amano shrimp

Sounds like the Sawbwa resplendens - the whole body takes on a blue hue and they have a orangy face - could be they are not on full color at the LFS?

Another name for amano shrimp is algae-eating shrimp. There are never any official common names.
