Here's a thought!
There must be something in my coffee.
Been sitting here, pondering a new tank. I like the number 75 so, 75 gallons is what I want.
A custom made tank made mostly of marble. Bottom, back are solid marble. Sides and front like window frames.
Marble would look like this:
I am thinking this tank would be crazy heavy. But meh... :D I'd use white sand to give it a dramatic effect, maybe even go with real plants.
Whacha think?Last edited by LadyHatred; 01-20-2009 at 10:55 AM.

Depends. What fish do you plan to keep.
Marble raises pH. It is basically limestone. If you don't plan t keep rift lake cichlids or similar you will need to seal it (the marble) very well.Do as I say. Not as I do.

Sounds cool, but it would probably be easier to use some linoleum counter top or something as a background, and build a window frame/box around the whole tank. That way you wouldn't have any weight issues!

If you build a tank out of marble you will not be able to move it without a fork lift. You will have trouble in later years with the sealent peeling off the marble. You would have a world of headaches with that, but it would look cool.
I agree with Lindsey on this.Get a glass tank and get some marble like laminent and use it as a background.
