Also interested. Thinking about getting one for my 75. Too bad, I threw out a Vortec Diatom & a Magnum canister filter not too long ago. Then recently decided to set up the 75 again.

Magnum did not work well for the turtle tank I bought it for. I guess it worked ok, but was a pain to clean. You had to pull the tubes out of the tank, or they created a suction and kept water flowing. Sloppy mess to change the filter cartridge.

Vortec Diatom was a great once in a while cleaning filter. I thought these were only used to do an occasional cleaning, not run all the time. At least that's what we used them for @ the pet shops I worked at when I was a lot younger.

I only have two and they are both Fluval 305's. I will stick with this same filter so the parts will be interchangeable if need be. I picked out this model because I like separate baskets for all the different media's and so far, it's been a great filter.

Im a die hard Rena fan. I used to be that way with Eheim classics until the Rena hit the market some years ago and I tried them, they are the most user friendly canister and I have slowly replaced my old Eheims with Renas over the years. They hold a ton of media, and are just so easy to use...always run well never any problems out of them. I do run a few Magnums with the Micron carts for fine mechanical filtration but I will admit they arent one of my favorites either. My cascade has alot of bypass and besides running peat fiber or extra filtration I wouldnt trust it to handle a large bioload system.

I've only had the Eheim Cassic 2217 so far..

It's okay, but I have a couple beefs with it..

My next cannister will be a Fluval, or an Eheim Pro..

Fluval 305 for me, too. I've read that there's problems with the seal and leaks, but so far, I love it!!!

Love my Fluval 405. Never used any other canisters but the Fluval works great and I can't even hear it running.

I have about eleven Fluvals, for a reason. And the new 05 line is great. The best intake strainers and tank-rim adaptors I have seen. Great filtration, easy to use (come with an instructional DVD), and very reasonably priced.
