black ruby barb info needed

i need some info on black ruby or ruby barbs........behavior, food they like, how many should be kept.......when i bought them, 5, they were sold as 5 banded barbs but they just didnt look like pix of 5 banded, at a different pet store i found out they are actually the rubys........but the store dude had NO clue how to care for them.....i'm begining to find out that many pet store employees dont know much about the things they are selling. thanx in advance for your help

They are Omnivores, like all barbs, and will happily take pellets that are both from meaty and from vegetable components. They also like small crustaceans, so frozen Mysis shrimp are a good bet for a three or four time a week treat.
Like all small-schooling fish, they should be given tiny meals several times a day, rather than one large meal, since they are browsers, not gorgers.
