  1. Default Sedentary goldfish

I have had two common goldfish in a 50 gal community tank for about a 2 months now. This morning I moved them into a separate 20gallon tank by themselves and they just sit at the bottom next to each other in the corner...I filled the 20 gal by siphoning water from the 50 gal because I was planning on doing a water change anyways. Even though, I checked the water parameters and everything was pristine. Any ideas as to what may be the problem. They are definitely not acting like they used to.

Why did you move them? 20G isn't big enough for 2 goldfish, so they are prolly bored because they don't have enough room, and also a bit upset because they've been moved from the tank they knew. I noticed my 3 comets got depressed when I moved them from the pond to an indoor tank to treat them for white spot. Even after they were better they did nothing but sit in a corner all day, because the tank was way too small for them. As soon as they were moved back to the pond they resumed their normal activities.

Did you cycled the new tank? Adding tank water isn't gonna do anything, as the water contains no beneficial bacteria. I'd suggest rubbing the filter sponge from the 50 G on the sponge in the 20 G to get the bacteria started.

But I'd also suggest moving the goldfish back to their old tank.
