The New Whisper EX filter.
For Christmas my girlfriend gave me the fairly new Whisper EX. As most of you know, the Whisper filters do not have bio-wheels, which I have always preferred. The EX is an advanced bio-scrubber feature. It's pretty cool looking!
Anyone have or know anything about these filters, or have anything to say about them before I install mine...........Thanks.

Its supposed to be some new industry changing technology, or so I've heard.

I've heard it tells you when to do filter maintence, if it works it would be great for beginners.
I'm more of a canister guy though, I probably won't be trying it out anytime soon. I'd love to know how it works out for you though!

Looking forward to hear how you like this filter too. Always nice to have new things to talk about and try. Perhaps you may like to put something in the product review section after you see how you like it.
I think for HOTB filters, I am rather stuck on the AquaClears still. I like the one big waterfall rather than having two and I like having the sponge and paying for no inserts. What I no longer like is the price since it jumped up $20 for the same darned filter over last years price. ughCycling With Fish?•• The Fishless Cycle••

Oh yeah, I've noticed the price change too. I'll wait just a bit more to see if I'll install it.

Decided to keep it, filter installed, running sweet!
I've got the old filter still running to alow time for the new one to develope. How long do ya'll think I should do this. One week, two weeks?
The kid at Petsmart said over night!!! Oh yeah, he also said to rinse the Bio-Scrubber under running tap water every now and then. I know I should have said something, I just didn't have the patience.

3 weeks or so at least, to make sure the media in your new filter gets well established. Or if you want take the media out of your old filter and put it into the new.

The Aqua clear has a control on top to slow the flow of the water.
I was wondering if you could control it on the Whisper.
I do like the idea of having it,thats all!

Nope, I've looked it over and checked the manual, no mention of it. I agree tho, I do like having it there. This was a christmas present, I did want the AC also. I decided to keep it, not to not hurt anyone's feelings, because I'm great at taking gifts back and a master at re-gifting, but the Bio-Scrubber sparked alot of interest. Do wish it had a flow control tho.
