New Filter Added
My current TopFin filter on our 20g long decided to give out last night. I got it working again right after, so we went today and got a new aquaclear 50 :D Now my question is how long do i need to keep the old cycled filter on before enough bacteria have moved into the new filter?
The old topfin 40, while working for now, is so loud and noisy i had to cover it with a shirt last night so i could sleep (tank is very close to where i sleep).
Please

I know how annoying loud filters can be. My "Whisper" filter was keeping me up the other night. I had to go hit it a few times, that usually works.
As for the old filter, I would wait 2-3 weeks with the old filter on. Or take some media out of the old and put it in the new to speed things up. With the AC you should have plenty of room. =]
Edit: Finally I beat somebody to a reply. xDLast edited by AABatteries; 01-09-2009 at 02:41 AM.

That is the filter media we have in the TopFin 20 (large size of course). It comes apart and i can take off just the thin foam and put it in the back of the ac.
Thanks everyone :D30g Tall - 2 Marble Angelfish, 3 Corys, 1 Longfin Bristlenose Pleco, 1 Regular Bristlenose Pleco
