  1. Default Lava Rock? Driftwood?

I'm going to be dividing my 10g tank in a few weeks and plan to keep the plants that are currently in there, but in order to divide the tank, I must take out the large piece of driftwood currently running from one end of the tank to the other.

So I could easily toss in two pieces of driftwood to each side, or I could use some of the lava rock that I already have. Would this be too sharp for a Betta's fins? I don't want to harm the little guys.

If anyone has had experience with this before, please let me know.

  2. Default

i was told that if i could scrub a panty hose/knee high across the surface of the material, and not have any snag. then a betta would be safe.
    currently:20 gallon tank with:
    3 african dwarf frogs
    1 bristlenose pleco
    7 swordtails
    4 hengli rasbora
    1 platy

    ac50filter
    aqueon quietflow 20 filter.

That's probably a good idea, although where I'm going to get some panty hose without looking odd is beyond me, lol.

another idea would be to rub a piece of clothing across it and see if you can feel any snag at all. it would have to be thin however.

Just explain it's for your fish. That should help. LOL

Hehe I was thinking about posting the same thing!

It is a great idea though.

I'm having to make my own divider. Any good tips on making one that doesn't look so bulky? I have a 29g divider that I was going to use as a base, but I hated how obvious it was when set up, it has big green sides that hold it in place.

I used some plastic mesh type stuff it worked quite well. If you have deep gravel I would reccomend this.

Could you be more specific? I think I'm just going to use the divider that I already have, but I'd like to "hide" it better.
