Shrimp are cool, but maybe even a 1 gallon may be a bit to small for them. I'm not an expert at shrimp however, so don't value my optinion to highly. You could also try culturing food for your fish in it if you would like to. That would be quite cool, and it would save you a bit of money also.

I have a 1g and was going to have a shrimp tank, but after really thinking about it, it was much to small IMO to house some of Cherry Shrimp..
Maybe just a bit of moss and a plant..

It lasts a good long time, too...if your bioload is light. Rinse it out really well first.
You can also find a very small heater at petsmart.
Hope this helps!I'm anti-picketing, but don't know how to express it.

@ TCWest - A 1 gallon is far too small for any fish, even betta. They should be in at least a 2.5g tank. But of course 1 gallon is better than 1 quart or less cups they come it.
You could keep 10 shrimp in a 1g. They have very small bio-loads.

Yes, I was just going to say the same thing. 1 g is too small for even a betta.
Those tiny betta bowels you see them kept in should be outlawed. I don't know why the Humane Society hasn't stepped in yet.
Frankly, I don't know why pet supply companies keep making them. They could produce larger setups with 'cute' appeal just as well - I'm sure their profit margin wouldn't suffer in the long run.55 g Goldfish Tank - 5 Fancies, 2 Dojos
