1 Gallon
What filtration would a 1 gallon tank need? Also could I not put a lid on? I was thinking of having like a overhead desk lamp over the tank. Any comments?

Too small. Too much work to keep healthy. Not worth it.

I know the bigger the tank the easier! So what about my questions?

Yes. You don't need a lid.
Yes. You can use a desk lamp.
However, no lid + light = increased evaporation. You'll need daily water fills...55 g Goldfish Tank - 5 Fancies, 2 Dojos

Nothing will slow it down.

No something to put over the tank. I can not find a lid for the tank. The dimensions are to small for all the lids I find.

You could buy a small piece of acrylic or plexiglass and get it cut down to size, or cut it yourself. If your not going to be putting a light on top of it, then any sort of plastic would work ok, and you can always cut it down to size. I was able to buy a 10" x 12" piece of acrylic from the hardware store for about $4, and then cut it using a dremel with a router attachment. It does melt so I had to let it cool down a fair bit. If it's just a straight cut, then just score the piece, then snap it.
