It is a swim bladder problem...

It is an anatomy problem with Balloon Rams they are predisposed to problems with the swim bladder because their guts are all squashed up in their abdomen. This arrangement predisposes to food impactions.

It could also be due to a virus or bacteria but I am guessing it is bloat from food.

You can either not feed the fish for 3-4 days which will break up the impaction and see how it goes thereafter.... or try and feed some peas or frozen artemia to get the excess out quicker.

If you are feeding flakes then they swell up in th stomach which can have this effect in Balloon versions of fish... soak the flake before feeding or switch to frozen/pellet food.

If it has not gone after 4 days of not feeding then you need to look at the water quality, virus or bacteria as a cause.

    Hope all goes well xxxxxxxxx

I feed NLS pellets and frozen food, my tank is mature and I have good water quality so I don't know what could've caused this. I'm leaving for a day and a half so they won't eat till I am back, hopefully she gets better. Thanks for the help.
