You have a gold chinese algae eater.all cae get a bit territorial but seeing as how the shark is bigger the cae will get over it and learn his place.

Does sound like the gold algea eater is a chinese AE. My cae is in with several ciclids and interacts with them all the time, usually in a very unfriendly way. Used to get chased but has grown faster than the others. Now, if they were scared, why would they go out of their way to be around each other? And, none of them have been hurt that I can tell. If your cae and shark grow at about the same speed it will be a permanent standoff, otherwise one will be the chaser and the other will get chased.
