I had a childrens pool set up 6'in diameter and 2' deep.I made a plexi lid for it,but it didn't cover the whole thing.I lost them both because they had jumped out. There was only a small gap but they found it.
I had them for a few yrs. They grew from 3" to about 9".Very aggresive fish.

Flies are a good idea I'd think. Try looking up humane fly trap or something like that on google. that way you might be able to find a trap design you can catch them in without them sticking into the bait (like they would in a simple style trap of just some honey or sugarwater in a jar). Most bass aren't too picky, and just about any insect you get hands on other than a worm will float for a while, i doubt with a bass around they'll be floating there long! I'm also not sure if I'm remembering correctly, but some moths can be pretty poisonous, maybe that's just in the caterpillar stage though. I'm 100% sure that moths get eaten often by fish in the wild so I dunno for sure. I've seen moths land in my open topped tank, and always have to net them out cause my fish avoid them like the plague. Or they take 1 shot at them, spit em out and leave them alone. So they probably aren't too tasty.
