  1. Default Name the Fish

After seeing a couple of other comps, I've decided to jump on the bandwagon. However, this one is a little more challenging:

    For 30,000 points.....

    --------------------------------------------------

    What is this fish?

    Clues:

    Endemic to Cook Islands
    Collected in very deep water
    Thought to be protogynous hermaphrodites
    Stays relatively small

    --------------------------------------------------

When/if someone gets it, I will post an un-cropped pic

    nope. Try again :)

Also, Pseudanthias taeniatus is only found in the Red Sea, a fair distance from the Cook Islands ;)

Technically it's Paracentropyge boylei, but I'll give it to you.

A favourite of mine collected at depths of over 300 feet and command a price tag of over $20,000USD. Currently there is only one known to still be alive in captivity and that is in Japan. The guy has had it for 7 years.

Im glad everyone has taken to this idea with such enthusiasm. :) I think stuff like this is really going to renew some lost interest in the forum, bring back old members and increase activity from all! Right on!
