Florida Longnose gar
I've been reading up on these fish, and they sound to be very interesting. I know that if I get one I would need a large tank, as they do get big. I guess my question is has anyone ever kept one of theses, and what sort of fish would go well with it. I've read that they are pretty passive, you just have to have fish big enough that won't fit in their mouths.

either way gar do well w/ tankmates as long as the tankmates are too large to be eaten and non aggressive. if a gar is kept w/ an aggressive tankmate it will in many cases result in the gar slamming nose first into the glass and breaking its back. they do best w/ other gar of similar size.
hope this helps
